Waterfront

GET YOUR FEET WET!

Camp Saginaw offers an extensive waterfront program. Our Juniors and Inters participate in instructional swim as part of their daily schedule. All campers enjoy an afternoon coed free swim. Whether your child is a novice or an avid swimmer, our certified lifeguards and instructors will teach and challenge each camper.

The Saginaw Lake and Big Elk Creek are ideal for the variety of water activities that we offer. The creek is home to our canoeing and kayaking programs. The lake is a frequent destination for many campers as they participate in popular activities such as tubing, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and fishing.

Canoeing & Kayaking

Saginaw is bordered by the Big Elk Creek where we offer canoeing and kayaking as a bunk activity. Campers also enjoy spending time together doing stream hikes at the creek. There is nothing better than a warm summer day on the Big Elk.

Lake Tubing

Lake tubing is offered to campers as a bunk activity. Our lake tubes carry one to three campers and are pulled behind a Yamaha Wave Runner on our private lake. Lake tubing is one of our camper’s favorite activities.

SCUBA & Snorkeling

Our SCUBA and snorkeling program is a resort course style program that is run in our pool. The snorkeling program is offered as an elective to Junior campers, while SCUBA program is offered as an elective to Inter and Senior campers. Our equipment consists of masks and snorkels, BC’s, air tanks, regulators, weight belts, and fins. We teach campers how to put the equipment on, breath under water with the regulators, proper hand signals, buoyancy, and other necessary skills to expose them to these water activities.

Swimming

Saginaw has two beautiful pools, complete with a fun and twisty water slide. Junior campers participate in a daily instructional swim period. Inter campers participate in instructional swim every other day. Instructional swim focuses on developing campers’ swimming confidence and stroke technique. All campers enjoy coed free swim at least once a day. We have lounge chairs and a sound system at the pool, making this one of the cool spots in camp.

Wakeboarding

Saginaw is proud of its private lake, where we offer wakeboarding as an elective. Campers that would like to spend more time developing their skills can sign up for private lessons.

Waterskiing

Waterskiing is an elective and one of our most popular activities. Private waterskiing lessons are available and sell out every summer. Campers develop skills at Saginaw that can prepare them for much larger bodies of water.
