Campers are given the opportunity to experience primitive camping in our outpost camping area. The Overnight Campout program begins with a trek past the lake to the campfire circle in the Saginaw’s woods. Fire building, outdoor storytelling, night hikes and cooking over an open campfire are some of the adventures that build lasting skills and lifelong memories. After a snack of hot dogs and chips, campers make s’mores and tell stories before heading back to their tent to slide into that comforting sleeping bag for the night. Long quiet conversations about kid stuff slowly fizzle out to the sounds of crickets and owls and the occasional crack of the campfire. Morning brings the smell of breakfast cooked on the embers of the previous night’s fire. Then it’s back to camp to share exaggerated survival stories of ghostly apparitions and creatures that prowled the night.
