Second half has begun!

We were so sad to say goodbye to our first session campers last weekend, but we hope they all are having a great rest of their summer. The next day, we welcomed all of our second session campers and they are settling into their new homes nicely. It feels like they have been here all summer!

This week, our oldest campers, Hill One and the Aides, went on their second “mystery trip” of the summer. They traveled to Wildwood, New Jersey and went to SplashZone, a water park located on the boardwalk. These campers had a blast going down the slides, challenging themselves on the FloRider, and walking around the boardwalk. Our Inter division went on their annual rafting trip this week. The rapids were high and fast-moving with all of the rain we have gotten, and we could not have asked for more perfect weather conditions for the day. The sun was beaming, the sky was clear, and all of the campers had a blast. That trip was definitely one of the many highlights from this summer!

As a camp, we celebrated Camp Kindness Day on Tuesday, July 24th. Our amazing campers wrote letters to sick children wishing them speedy recoveries and giving them encouragement. We also had a special Starbucks morning for our staff to give them a little pick-me-up for the day. Other randoms acts of kindness helped make the day really positive for all campers and staff.

Our Inter division also went bowling this week, which was a new trip for 2018. (What a busy week for the Inters!) The Junior Boys went on their second overnight camping trip of the summer. They made s’mores, told stories, hung around the campfire, and played lots of games led by Mark. The Junior Girls are currently working on an art project that is going to be displayed in camp. We are also looking forward to Big Sister/Little Sister and Big Brother/Little Brother day tomorrow. Younger campers will spend the day with an older camper, playing games, beautifying camp, and just hanging out getting to know each other.

This weekend is also our annual Weekend Club, where potential campers – going into 1st grade through 4th grades – can come and spend the weekend with us to get a taste of camp life. They will be participating in a “normal camp day” while getting to see why we all love Saginaw so much.

We also have a feeling BIG things are coming in week 6. Our campers have been making predictions of when Color War will break — we know it is coming soon!
