If your child will need to take any medication on a regular basis while at camp (including non-prescription medications), you are required to use CampMeds. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in a medication convenience fee of $299, and/or your child not receiving their medications while at camp.
Please go to www.campmeds.com to register for this service.
There are rare circumstances when CampMeds cannot accommodate a camper’s medication requirements. In the event that this happens, CampMeds will contact our office on your behalf and explain the circumstances.
Approved exempt pill-form medication must be sent to and arrive at camp (740 Saginaw Road, Oxford, PA 19363) at least five days prior to your child’s arrival via UPS, FedEx or DHL to the attention of the Health Center. Do NOT use USPS.
WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT MEDICATIONS AT BUS STOPS OR AT PARENT DROP-OFF THAT HAVE BEEN PRE-ARRANGED WITH OUR OFFICE. Eligible medications are rescue inhalers/respiratory inhalants, EpiPens, growth hormones, allergy shots, and any medication that requires refrigeration.
Rescue Inhalers: Please bring two rescue inhalers with your camper to the bus stop or to camp for parent drop-off. Make sure that rescue inhalers are in original packaging (if applicable) and have been labeled with a Sharpie (on both the medication tube and the dispenser).
EpiPens: Please bring two EpiPens in the original pharmacy box with the prescription label attached with your camper to the bus stop or to camp for parent drop-off. Make sure the actual EpiPen(s) is labeled with your campers name using a Sharpie (not just the box). Give the EpiPen(s) to our staff at the bus stop or drop-off in a clearly labeled zip lock bag. The EpiPen(s) will be kept in the Health Center.
Growth Hormone Shots / Allergy Shots: Please bring this medication/supply in original pharmacy packaging with your camper to the bus stop or to camp for parent drop-off. Give the medication/supplies to our staff at the bus stop or at drop-off in a clearly labeled container or cooler, if it requires refrigeration. This cooler/ice packs should be labeled and will be returned to you at the end of the session with any remaining medications. Please include original doctor instructions with allergy shots. We will complete the documentation and return the originals to you at the end of the session. If growth hormone dose is different than the prescription label (due to a recent adjustment) please include a doctor’s note indicating the change in dose for our records and to assure proper dosing while at camp.
Camp Saginaw’s Health Center stocks many common over-the-counter medications that your child may need on an as-needed basis (examples: Tylenol, Advil/Motrin, Benadryl, allergy medications, cough and cold preparations, Pepto-Bismol). We stock Claritin tablets and Zyrtec liquid for children who do not use this regularly. If your child should start using it on a more regular basis, we will contact you.
If your child takes any over-the-counter medication regularly (such as a vitamin or an allergy medication), you are required to use CampMeds. You may want to speak with your child’s physician to determine if an over-the-counter medication is necessary while your child is at camp.

Mail: All campers enjoy getting mail while they are at camp. We recommend sending traditional mail as well as email through your Campanion or CampInTouch account. Send all letters to:
Your Child’s Name
Your Child’s Division (Junior Girls, e.g.)
Camp Saginaw
740 Saginaw Road
Oxford, PA 19363
Package Policy: No box packages or food packages are permitted at camp. Please share this information with family and friends. We do allow items that fit in a 9” x 12” flat envelope such as magazines, puzzle books, stickers, etc. We do open all packages that arrive at camp and will discard any food items. The ONLY exceptions are:
Birthday Pizza Party: If your child has a birthday while they are at camp, you have the option to order a pizza party. We order in pizzas from our favorite local pizza shop for lunch for the bunk to enjoy. Please call our office to make arrangements. It is $6.00 per person in the bunk, including staff.
Peanut/Tree Nut Allergies: We have several campers that have peanut/tree nut allergies. As a reminder, we are a nut-aware camp. This means we do not cook or bake with any nuts. We do have peanut butter in one location of our Dining Hall and we are able to safely manage and monitor the peanut butter in this way. Please DO NOT pack or send your child any items that contain peanuts or tree nuts.
We are thrilled to be able to take our Inter Division (campers 6th and 7th grade) on a whitewater rafting trip on the Lehigh River in Jim Thorpe, PA.
This fun trip will be during the 5th week of camp, so all Full Season and Second Half Inters will be participating. The trip will include a riverside lunch, scenic views, and of course, an adventure along the gentle rapids of the river. In addition to Saginaw staff, our trip will be staffed by professional river guides. We travel on a section of the river perfect for beginner rafters, and life jackets are mandatory.
Campers will need water shoes that cover their toes (such as Keens) or old sneakers for the trip. No flip flops or sandals are permitted on the rafts. Our packing list already includes a second pair of sneakers for all campers, but we wanted to make you aware of this so you can prepare as you are packing.
If your child is currently enrolled for the First Half of camp and is interested in extending for the Full Season, please let us know so we can include them in our plans.
CELL PHONES
One privilege for our oldest campers (ONLY for campers entering 11th grade) is to bring a cell phone to camp. Cell phones will be collected by the bus supervisor at the pick-up locations, or at the front gate if you are driving your child to camp. Please place the cell phone and charger in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child’s name. The phones and chargers will be kept in the camp office. Campers will have one designated 45 minute period per week to use their phones. On the last day of camp, we will give back phones and chargers.
TRIPS
Included in this summer’s program for our Aides and Hill 1 campers are two additional out-of-camp trips. One trip will be during the first session, and one will be during the second session. In addition to the standard camp bank money, we recommend sending your child with additional bank money.
One trip will be to Splash Zone Water Park in Wildwood, NJ. Splash Zone has a Flow Rider - a simulated surf machine where riders can flow board or bodyboard. In order to use the Flow Rider, an online waiver must be completed by a parent or guardian. In addition to the waiver, the park requires a copy of a parent’s or guardian’s driver’s license to verify that the parent or guardian completed the waiver. You can access the waiver by clicking HERE. Please send the driver’s license copy to jessica@campsaginaw.com.
Participation in the Flow Rider is optional and there are plenty of other activities if you opt out of this for your child.
Please know that Camp Saginaw takes the health and well-being of our campers and staff very seriously. We will do everything we can to provide our camp families with a safe and fun place for their child to spend the summer.
We are counting down the days until we are all reunited in the 19363!
