Whether it’s a bunk counselor or swimming instructor, Camp Saginaw is very proud of its excellent and diverse staff. Every summer, we’re committed to offering the best camping experience possible. In order to reach this goal, we realize a camp needs top-quality staff that has a sincere interest in making a positive influence in a child’s life.

From wake-up to bed-time, a Saginaw counselor is challenged everyday with the rewarding experience of leading a bunk and serving as a mentor. The primary responsibility of a Camp Saginaw staff member is to ensure each child's general welfare. This includes handling disputes, helping with homesickness and assisting them in cleaning their areas.

Staff orientation begins five days prior to the arrival of campers. During this time you will attend meetings, workshops and prepare for the arrival of the campers. Among the many topics which are discussed, include homesickness, staff policies, chain of command and emergency procedures. You will also experience a "Day in the Life of a Camper", where you travel through camp and participate in daily activities.

Fun! That is a word normally associated as a goal for the campers. However, at Camp Saginaw, we also want make sure that our staff has a FUN summer as well. Throughout the summer, there are many staff activities and nights out in which we encourage our staff to have a good time.

Each staff member is provided with 5 days off, divided in two 2 1/2 days off each. (i.e. depart at 6:00pm on Wednesday and return at curfew on Friday, which is 12:30am). Staff is also provided with approximately 1 early night per week (depart at 6:00pm and return at curfew). When staff are not on nightly duty they are permitted to leave camp at 9:00pm and return at curfew. All staff is required to attend Sunday night staff meetings, which are all in nights.
